Graduating seniors who are not sure what they want to do after high school should consider applying for a paid community service position with City Year, Washington, DC., a group of 17-24 year olds committed to full-time service for ten months in the Washington, DC community.

The American Heart Association is proud to announce the Go Red For Women Multicultural Scholarship. This will grant 8 Hispanic, female college students in New York (who meet all other program requirements) $2,500 to help them in their studies.

The Tim Russert Fellowship will be awarded to one motivated, passionate graduating senior interested in pursuing a career in political journalism. The Fellowship is a one-year, paid position in the NBC News Washington, D.C. bureau. The fellow will work on a rotational basis in several areas of the Washington Bureau including “Meet the Press” and the NBC News Political Unit. Responsibilities will include assisting talent and producers, participating in news shoots, and story research. The goal is to give a talented, young journalist the opportunity to be mentored by seasoned NBC News staff members and experience a yearlong “boot camp” in political journalism.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or Political Science Cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 Active involvement in journalism through work experience, on campus media involvement and/or internships Proven commitment to community service
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: External applicants must submit a resume/CV through gecareers.com or nbcunicareers.com to be considered. Internal applicants must submit EMS via the GE Career Opportunity System (COS). Must be willing to take drug test and submit to a background investigation. Must be 18 years or greater. Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in United States through July 2010. Must be willing to work overtime, nights, holidays, and weekends, often with short notice. The EPA Student Summer Employment Opportunities Web site is now up and running. The site provides a centralized Web portal through which students may enter to learn about EPA offices and summer employment opportunities. Having a central portal makes it easier for students to find information about specific work areas of interest. They also are able to submit job applications
directly to the EPA offices with vacancies. The direct link to the Summer Employment Opportunities for DC and Boston the Web site is http://www.epa.gov/ohr/student/.
Basic Eligibility Qualifications:
- You must be a student. A student is an individual who is enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited high school, college, university, or technical or vocational school.
- Students must be in good academic standing with at least a GPA of “C” or its equivalent.
- You must be a U.S. Citizen.
- You must be age 16 at time of employment.
- A work permit is required for students age 16.

New York State Court Officers are highly trained law enforcement professionals responsible for the protection and security of judges, court employees and the public in courthouses and court facilities throughout New York State.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Court Officers are required to carry firearms and are charged with providing law enforcement, security services and maintaining order within state court facilities. Court Officers have an opportunity to be assigned to specialized units such as the Special Response Team and Mobile Security Patrol.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be appointed to the Court Officer Trainee position, candidates must pass a written examination and be at least 18 years old, a United States citizen, a New York State resident, and possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. (more…)

The White House Internship Program provides a unique opportunity to gain job experience and an inside look at the life of White House staff while building leadership skills. This hands-on program is designed to mentor and cultivate today’s young leaders, strengthening their understanding of the Executive Office and preparing them for future public service possibilities.
In addition to normal office duties, interns will supplement their learning experience by attending a weekly lecture series hosted by senior White House staff, help at White House social events, and volunteer in community service projects.
“This program will mentor and cultivate young leaders of today and tomorrow and I’m proud that they will have this opportunity to serve,” said President Obama. ”I look forward to working with those that are selected to participate and I want to commend all who apply for their desire to help through public service to forge a brighter future for our country.”
